Welcome to Colorado Unity
Colorado Unity is a non-partisan coalition of community, civil rights, business, labor and faith organizations and individuals committed to preserving and promoting effective affirmative action policies as one tool to redress discrimination through the fair achievement of equal access and participation for Colorado’s women and people of color in employment, education and business. Formed in 1995 and ’96, Colorado Unity has successfully defeated every anti-affirmative action proposal in Colorado’s state legislature, and we’ve supported proactive efforts to reinstate state personnel affirmative action rules.
Colorado Unity is currently engaged in developing a statewide educational campaign to reach all Coloradans about the importance of a diverse society and equal opportunity for all in our great state. We are engaged in this educational campaign against a backdrop of attacks against diversity nationwide – the rise in white supremacist groups, Ward Connerly’s successful ballot initiative to ban affirmative action in Michigan and his efforts to bring his anti-affirmative action ballot initiative to several new states, including Colorado, in 2008.
